Code of Conduct for Participants, Spectators, and Organizers Golden Spike Ostrava – World Athletics Continental Tour Gold

Introduction to the Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct for the Golden Sceptre Ostrava promotes an inclusive environment for all participants in this athletic meet—one of Europe's oldest and part of the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold. It focuses on diversity, equal opportunities, and combating discrimination in line with national ethical standards in Czech sports. This code applies to organizers, athletes, coaches, spectators, and volunteers.

Principles of Diversity and Inclusion

Organizers of the Golden Sceptre Ostrava actively support diversity by ensuring equal access to competitions regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, or disability. Inclusion involves adapting conditions for athletes with disabilities, including barrier-free stadium access and special race categories. All activities must be safe and accessible to diverse groups, including staff training on cultural competence.

Equal Opportunities and Gender Balance

Equal opportunities encompass the same access to training, officiating, and sponsorship for men and women, aiming to balance representation in competitions as well as in organizing committees and management. Support for gender balance occurs through transparent athlete selection based on performance rather than stereotypes, along with monitoring of demographic data. Sex-based discrimination is strictly prohibited, with an emphasis on mentoring for female coaches and officials.

Engagement of Persons with Disabilities

The sports environment of the Golden Sceptre Ostrava is open to individuals with physical, sensory, or mental disabilities, providing individual accommodations such as ramps or assistance. Organizers ensure inclusive categories and volunteer training to support full participation. The goal is to create safe conditions where athletes with disabilities can compete and inspire others. This applies to athletes, spectators, and members of the production and organizing teams.

Combating Racism and Discrimination

Racism and any form of harassment based on race, skin color, or nationality are absolutely unacceptable; violations result in immediate exclusion from the event. All participants must respect fair play and model inclusive behavior, including a ban on offensive language or gestures. Monitoring and training ensure zero tolerance for discrimination.

Application and Accountability

Violations of the code are addressed by the organizers' ethics committee, with potential prosecution under the National Ethical Code of Sport (link to pdf). All individuals are required to report incidents and participate in DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) training.

The code is regularly reviewed based on feedback.
