The world record holder in pole vault and the biggest star of this year's Golden Spike Ostrava, Armand Duplantis, has arrived in Ostrava. On Sunday, May 26th, he landed at Mošnov Airport in "Usain Bolt style". He is excited for the competition and well-prepared.
"I feel great," he said after landing. "My entire preparation after the indoor season went well and without any interruptions, which gives me confidence that I can jump high."
At the meeting, he will be performing in close proximity to the audience. The pole vault sector will be set up right in front of the main stands, where fans can enjoy his attempts in full splendor. "It's quite exceptional for us to jump so close to the audience. The interaction with them is almost intimate and creates a great atmosphere," said the 24-year-old Swede in an interview before his departure.
The Golden Spike record, held since last year, is 612 cm. Can the world's best pole vaulter with a personal record of 624 cm surpass himself this year?
