Czech 800m record holder Jakub Dudycha and high jumper Jan Štefela will be among the biggest domestic hopes at this year's Ostrava Golden Spike. Jakub Dudycha improved the Czech record this year at the Continental Tour Gold meeting with a time of 1:44.78 min, while silver medalist from the European Indoors Champipnships in Apeldoorn Jan Štefela shone a few days ago in Košice with a performance of 228 centimeters.

Women’s Pole Vault (16:05)
Slovenian Tina Sutej headlines the women’s pole vault, which is the first Continental Tour Gold competition of the Golden Spike. With a PB of 4.82m, the Slovenian is looking to build on the successes of her indoor season, where she won silver at both the World and European Indoor Championships.
She faces home athlete Amalie Svabikova, who set the current Czech Record of 4.80m when finishing fifth at last summer’s Olympic Games and beat Sutej at recent DL in Paris. Also in the field are Brazilian Juliana De Menis Campios and Marleen Mulla of Estonia.

There is one typical sign for the Golden Spike Ostrava - the biggest athletics event in Czech Republic always attracts both the biggest world stars and young talents. The 64th edition of the Ostrava Golden Spike will shine with the biggest athletics stars. The World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting will feature world-class talent, local elites, and the best fans. Sixteen medalists from the Paris Olympic Games will compete, along with 40 medalists from major championships, including World Championships, European Championships, World Indoor Championships, and World Military Games. This year’s Ostrava Golden Spike, taking place on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, has sold out in recent days due to high demand. No tickets will be available at the venue. The athletes will be cheered on by a full stadium, and organizers ask fans to be in their seats by 6:00 PM, when the exciting two-hour main program will begin. Ostrava, June 6, 2025 – The 64th edition of the Golden Spike Ostrava will welcome another global track and field superstar. Athletics fans can look forward to seeing Olympic champion and three-time world champion in the 110m hurdles, Grant Holloway, who will make his debut appearance in Ostrava. Not only is Holloway one of the fastest hurdlers in history, but he also claimed the Olympic title at the Paris 2024 Games. His personal best of 12.81 seconds ranks him second on the all-time list, reviving memories of Dayron Robles’s world record 12.87 set at the Golden Spike in 2008. Holloway will arrive in Ostrava following his appearance at the Paris Diamond League, which is his next scheduled meet.

Ostrava Golden Spike did not disappoint again. A great 12,000 spectators (plus another 3,000 guests and journalists) turned up and Swedish pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis once again confirmed that he is the king of his craft. He was the only one to jump 582 cm in the wind and sometimes in the rain, and then 6 meters on the third attempt. When asked what to do next, he answered without hesitation that he was going for the world record. The first two attempts were tests and during the third he already showed why he is so special. Despite the adverse weather conditions, he realistically attacked 625 cm. Finally, he promised to come in a year. We will see what the value of the world record will be at that time.
